Weatherby Model 307 Alpine CT

It may be the middle of summer, but fall is just around the corner and Weatherby is already preparing hunters with a new iteration of its Model 307 bolt-action. Tagged the Alpine CT, the 2-lug, fully cylindrical action rifle weighs in at roughly 6 pounds thanks to a carbon fiber combination of a chocolate brown PEAK 44 Bastion stock and wrapped stainless steel BSFbarrel. The rifle can be had in 14 different calibers ranging from .243 Win to 7mm PRC.

5 Compensated Handguns

Like other industries, firearms are subject to trends – the latest being compensated handguns. While aftermarket compensators can be had from the likes of Radian Weapons and Vantage Point Armory, factory pistols with integrated comps are always preferred. Which brings us to three new offerings from Smith & Wesson and Springfield Armory.

Targeting concealed carry, the Smith & Wesson Performance Center is bringing compensators to a new 9mm Carry Comp series, featuring popular Shield Plus, M2.0 Carry Compact, and M2.0 Metal Carry models. Each pistol sports a barrel and slide with matching 12 o’clock Power Ports to divert gasses up and reduce recoil, a ClearSight Cut further back to maintain optic visibility, and additional slide cuts on each side of the muzzle. Pistols also feature flat face triggers and a new slide serration design.

Meanwhile, Springfield has given the Hellcat Pro and double-stack Prodigy 1911 the compensator treatment. Taking on the SIG Sauer P365-XMACRO Comp, the Hellcat Pro Comp features a single port atop the barrel and slide to redirect gas upward. Likewise, the Prodigy Comp boasts an integral compensator for faster follow-up shots in competition. Barrel lengths remain the same as standard models at 3.7” and 4.25"/5”, respectively.

Sako TRG 62 A1

Just “send it." More than a popular saying heard on ranges, Finnish firearms manufacturer, Sako, used the phrase as inspiration for its new TRG 62 A1 sniper rifle. Chambered in the massive .357 CheyTac, the TRG 62 A1 was purpose-built for extreme long range military and law enforcement applications. Capable of hitting targets beyond a mile, the surprisingly lightweight rifle was tailored from stock to muzzle for precision, power, and versatility.
